BAKERY OPENING DAY CELEBRATIONS
On the 18th of August our new bakery was open
and was selling bread to the local villagers.

Message from
Chairman on 2nd Annual Western Canada Relief For
Haiti Gala
Update: March 2011
The 2nd
Annual Relief Gala for Haiti
was organized to mark the one year anniversary
of the Haiti Earthquake and was a success. The
evening was well attended by over 160 people.
Our goal of raising enough money for the small
bakery was achieved. The gala was attended by
young and old who also purchased many of the auctioned
items.
It is this generosity from
our supporters that enable us to continuing helping
the villagers in HAITI. Our small village of La
petite Savanne will benefit greatly once the bakery
is up and operating. Our Team would like to thank
all who attended and gave generously to this project.
Thank you,
Roland Lafrance

Our group recently made a trip
to Haiti to once again assist in the relief efforts.
They just returned with great news on some new
projects that we have become part of. We are in
the process of assistance in building
homes and a road to two small communities
in Grand Goave. Our group hired about 30 Haitians
to assist with the home building and fixing phase.
Look for many new NEW
PHOTOS from our time in Haiti as well as updates
on the progress of our efforts. We take this opportunity
to extend our thanks to all those members of our
team that joined us and those that helped to make
it happen with their generous efforts and support.
1st Western Canada Relief For Haiti Gala a Success
1st
Western Canada Relief For Haiti Gala
was a resounding success. We raised much needed
funds for the two communities in Haiti, in which
40% of the homes were destroyed. The funds raised
will help to purchase supplies to build showers,
washrooms and install more clean water lines.

"The Western Canada Relief For Haiti
First Annual Gala event was a great success. It
would not be possible without my family, my great
friends, the community and most importantly Reza
of Alfredo’s and the staff there. Thank
you."

"Welcome
Home to our Volunteers from Regina"
Our local volunteers arrived
home safely this week. Carlos Petit-Homme is lost
for words when he tries to describe the devastation
he witnessed during a recent visit to the earthquake-ravaged
country of Haiti.
"Wow" is one of the first words that
came to his mind when he saw buildings that were
once 11 stories high now reduced to a pile of
rubble in the capital city of Port-au-Prince.

"Our vision is to assist
Haiti in its recovery through local and International
Agencies"
To provide support in the various
areas, we will assist in the process of translation
to organizations that are aiding in all aspects
of the recovery. Additionally we will assist in
developing contacts with local Haitian government
and in developing and planning safety areas for
the recovery of Haitian citizens.
We will coordinate with acting
government(s) to implement new safety areas (Tent
cities, medical areas and food distribution areas)
as well as working with & overseeing the training
of Haitians to assist in the recovery programs.
"Among the varied
services that we will provide, there are 3 primary
ones."
These include the recovery aid to the people
of Haiti, through both financial means and goods
& services.
Equally important is our ability to direct persons,
both professional and nonprofessional, to agencies
so that they can join local Haiti support groups
in the relief efforts.
Our organization will
liaison between the various agencies that are
currently working to oversee the relief efforts
We will ensure that those whom wish to help
will be able to get in contact with those that
can facilitate their assistance. This includes,
but is not limited to government agencies, local
and international profit & non-profit organizations,
transportation services, media and other support
institutions. |
